Be Seen With A Mule This Summer

Schweppes Moscow Mule_shopping...jpg

Iconic drink brand ‘Schweppes' is teaming up with renowned fashion photographer Jessica Craig-Martin, whose impactful images represent a tongue-in-cheek look at fashion and what constitutes the latest must-have, to create a summer advertising execution to celebrate the classic drink, Moscow Mule, made with ‘Schweppes Canada Dry' and vodka.

‘Schweppes' and Smirnoff have teamed up to promote this signature drink as the must have for the summer, focusing on key drinking occasions and encouraging consumers to have a ‘Schweppes Moscow Mule' for their first drink of the evening.

Showcasing the photographic technique for which Jessica is well known, the campaign embodies the ‘Schweppes' quintessentially quirky sense of humour seen in recent campaigns with Alison Jackson and Martin Parr.

With a distinctly satirical take on the fashion industry the observational humour captured depicts the mule as the latest must-have fashion accessory.

Recreating classic paparazzi poses traditionally associated with celebrities, designer handbags and the latest must have outfits, the three creative platforms see the mule making an appearance on the red carpet, the front row of a catwalk show and strutting down an exclusive shopping street.

Created by retained advertising agency Mother, the campaign breaks on 11th August and will appear on 6 sheets in key cities across the country during the Summer. The 6 sheet campaign will be complemented by iconic sites in each location.

Notes to editors:

'Schweppes' heritage dates back to the 1700s when Jacob Schweppe was credited with perfecting his process for manufacturing the world's first carbonated beverage, mineral water.

In 1783, Schweppe patented his special process for carbonating water, thus J. Schweppe & Company was born. Schweppe's true stroke of genius came from his development of a bottle that could retain the carbonation.  This started the soft drinks business.

As the British Empire grew, so did ‘Schweppes'.  Englishmen, longing for a taste of home, brought ‘Schweppes' to distant countries and extended the brand recognition to all corners of the world. ‘Schweppes' continued its growth in the midst of two world wars.  By the beginning of World War II, Schweppes Ltd. was firmly established as the leading manufacturer of soft drinks in Great Britain.

In 1999, a new logo featuring a distinctive yellow ‘Schweppes' banner and flowing bubbles was introduced.
