Making an Informed Choice

Increasingly, we all want to know more about what goes into the food and drink we consume. That's why Coca-Cola Great Britain (CCGB) has introduced new, easy to read, easy to understand nutritional labels on all of its products.

In addition, Coca-Cola Great Britain is committed to providing its consumers with a diversity of drinks to suit their different needs. This ensures that everyone can make a choice about what drinks are right for them and their families.

CCGB provides easy to understand 'Guideline Daily Amount' (GDA) labelling on all of its drinks. So, anybody wanting to know how many calories, how much sugar, fat, saturated fat and salt is in a drink from Coca-Cola Great Britain, can now find out at a glance simply by looking on the front of the label. These labels also illustrate the percentage of a GDA that each drink represents and how much of a particular drink is contributing to their diet. Because everyone is different, any nutritional information can only be a guide.

With regards to portion size, Coca-Cola Great Britain depicts an appropriate single portion as a 250ml glass on all product labels - this is highlighted on bottles sized 500ml and above (see illustrations below).

Consumers will also find clear messages such as 'sugar free' and 'zero added sugar' on relevant products, as well as messages on juice brands such as 'Minute Maid' 100% pure squeezed orange juice that highlights how a single 250ml glass counts as one of your five daily portions of fruit and vegetables. Of course a full list of ingredients is also included on the label.

As well as clear labelling, to help people make informed choices about what they drink, Coca-Cola Great Britain also provides a free-phone consumer care-line and a website where people can find out more information about their drinks quickly and accurately.
