'Schweppes You Know Who'... Should Mix This Christmas
Iconic drinks brand 'Schweppes' is reuniting with famed photographer Alison Jackson to create a Christmas advertising execution for its range of mixers.
Showcasing the photographic technique for which Alison is famous, the campaign will feature look-alikes of unlikely couples entering into the seasonal spirit of goodwill and putting aside their differences in order to share a festive drink.
The creative depicts look-alikes of Gordon Brown and Tony Blair, recently-departed Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and his former boss Roman Abramovich and ex-couple Kate Moss and Pete Doherty above the tagline 'Schweppes, You Know Who…should mix this Christmas'.
The campaign embodies 'Schweppes' quirky quintessentially British sense of humour, imagining a side of celebrities we wouldn't normally be exposed to and the full potential of a season of goodwill to all men.
Created by retained advertising agency Mother, the campaign is due to break on 3rd December and will appear on billboards in London only for a limited period.
The collaboration with Alison Jackson follows on from the work she did for the brand from 2001-2003, which made her into a household name and won numerous creative awards.
Notes to editors:
'Schweppes' heritage dates back to the 1700s when Jacob Schweppe was credited with perfecting his process for manufacturing the world's first carbonated beverage, mineral water.
In 1783, Schweppe patented his special process for carbonating water, thus J. Schweppe & Company was born. Schweppe's true stroke of genius came from his development of a bottle that could retain the carbonation. This started the soft drinks business.
As the British Empire grew, so did 'Schweppes'. Englishmen, longing for a taste of home, brought 'Schweppes' to distant countries and extended the brand recognition to all corners of the world. 'Schweppes' continued its growth in the midst of two world wars. By the beginning of World War II, Schweppes Ltd. was firmly established as the leading manufacturer of soft drinks in Great Britain.
In 1999, a new logo featuring a distinctive yellow 'Schweppes' banner and flowing bubbles was introduced.
'Schweppes', the Fountain Device, the 196 Graphics, 'Schweppes You Know How' and 'Schweppes Straightcut' are registered trade marks of Atlantic Industries.
